Frequently Asked Questions
What quality certifications does Ichiplas hold?
Ichiplas is ISO 9001 certified, with a quality management system covering all stages from incoming material inspection through final outgoing quality checks. Our processes follow documented procedures with full traceability. We also support customer-specific quality requirements including PPAP documentation.
How do you verify that molded parts meet dimensional specifications?
We use a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to measure critical dimensions on every new mold's first articles (T1 samples) and compare results directly against the 3D CAD model. A formal dimensional inspection report is issued with each T1 submission. During production, we perform in-process checks using calibrated gauges, fixtures, and statistical process control (SPC) to maintain consistency.
What is a T1 sample and what should I expect?
T1 refers to the first set of parts produced from a new mold. At Ichiplas, T1 samples are inspected visually for cosmetic defects, measured dimensionally on the CMM against your CAD model, and documented in a formal T1 report. The report includes actual vs. nominal dimensions with pass/fail status for each critical feature. T1 samples are shipped to you for approval before production begins.
Do you provide incoming inspection for purchased components?
Yes. For insert-molded parts or assemblies that incorporate purchased components (metal inserts, electronic connectors, magnets, etc.), we perform incoming quality checks on the purchased materials against agreed specifications. This ensures that component quality issues don't propagate into the finished molded part.
How do you handle quality issues if they arise during production?
We follow a structured corrective action process: containment (isolate affected parts), root cause analysis (8D methodology), corrective action implementation, and verification. All quality incidents are documented and reviewed by management. We communicate transparently with customers throughout the process — we believe that how a supplier handles a problem tells you more about them than how they perform when everything goes right.
